I remember looking at the class choices in front of me. Math was not easy and the idea of choosing anything higher than Basic Math twisted my stomach into knots. In my early teens, it was difficult for me to see past the next school year and into the kind of future where the choices I made that day would have any impact on my life at all.
Council of Elders member, Phoenix, Arizona, pastor and East Africa senior pastor John Elliott gives an update on his most recent trip to Africa. He talks about the challenges and successes of building a leadership program in the region. The work in East Africa is being supported by newly trained deacons and elders, among other servants.
Ive been pondering the meaning of being blessed after reading an article this week. The author of the article posited that we should not claim we are blessed when speaking of our physical circumstances (jobs, homes, etc.), because it would imply that people who dont have those things (and in some cases never will) are not blessed.
Jesus Christ gave up his mantle as God and became a human being. He lived a perfect life for 33 years, then was killed (in a very horrible and monstrous wayby crucifixion). Why? So that every human being who has ever lived could be given the chance to live forever. There's a bit more to understand, of course, but that's it in a nutshell.
